Your PoC or V1 works on the bench. Now you need to take it through EVT, DVT, PVT, and into mass production. This requires manufacturing engineering, compliance expertise, and test automation depth that your internal team may not have built yet.

Question 2: How far along is your product and what does that mean for the partnership?
The maturity of your product determines what kind of engineering work you’ll need from a partner. A team at the concept stage needs different support than a team preparing for mass production.
This is important because it affects everything from team composition to engagement duration to the skills you should be evaluating.

In embedded development, scope always shifts. A component goes end-of-life. Field testing reveals a new requirement. A competitor launches and your roadmap changes overnight. The right question isn’t whether things will change, it’s how the partnership handles it when they do.
Listen for where a potential partner falls on this spectrum:
